In your body is a good place to be

With the way the world is now days it’s sometimes hard to remember who you are deep down and what you find beautiful about yourself. At least.. for me it is. While I was attending my first year at community college I had a professor that taught math or something but all his lectures had to do with philosophical ideas. I didn’t like him much but one thing he said stuck with me. He said, “Can you really look into the mirror at the end of the day and see yourself? Your true self all bullshit aside.

Can you see who you are and live with it?”. I think that stuck with me because before then I always looked into the mirror and saw who I wanted to be or who I wasn’t. I so easily get swept up in what’s trending and the perfection of the Kardashian clan but when I have a moment to reflect I remember what I like and who I am. I like video games and the heroism and story telling that goes hand in hand with fantasy. I love blowing bubbles in the sun and playing tag with my dogs. I like giving to those in need and caring about issues most people seem to push aside. I like being quiet during conversations and listening. I love crying at sad romantic movies and I love to fantasize about living a humble life in the woods. I love my family, my sweet heart of a man and when I see people acting out of kindness. I’m an emotional mess most of the time but I love when I feel content.

A woman by the name of Sarah Jane Adams single handedly moved something in me this past week and inspired this blog post. For the last year I have been watching these magical videos of women and men opening up. The lovely creators of StyleLikeU are responsible for this. I’m telling you, these videos have helped me so much in remembering to love my flaws, love my differences and most importantly not give a shit about what other people think. I’ve selected a few that truly gave me a new perspective on life. TOTALLY recommend checking out StyleLikeU’s channel.
In your body is a good place to be because it’s the only physical space you are allowed to be in at this very moment. It’s where you’ve experienced the good and the bad and it’s the only place you’ll leaner self acceptance. What makes you pretty is what's inside.

  1. Thank you for sharing this post! sat down and watched these videos.Interesting to see peoples opinions and take on things.I loved Sarah Jane Adams, she seems like she knows who she is and won't apologize for it.A great fiery character!

I think everybody can get caught up in the superficial day to day stuff and we lose sight of the bigger picture from time to time. Such a refreshing feeling when you can sit down and put things into perspective again!

    Love your blog!
